We pay attention to what sustains us individually. And we need to. For our own happiness, but also because, unless we do so, we do not have much to give.
But we also keep remembering that our individual life is taking place within a larger context. We are part of a larger whole. That “something larger” is is not just a spiritual concept. It is the world we live in, its ecology, its economics and politics.
We have a responsibility toward ourselves and others to play our part in that “something larger”.
